SIGHPC has announced the twelve recipients of the ACM SIGHPC Computational and Data Science Fellowships for 2024. The program is intended to increase the diversity of students pursuing graduate degrees in data science and computational science, including women as well as students from racial/ethnic backgrounds that have been historically underrepresented in the computing field.
The 12 winners were selected from a highly competitive field of hundreds of applicants from all over the world and spanned disciplines from biochemistry and behavioral science to engineering and geosciences. Read More...

Dr. Patrick Flick (Georgia Tech'19) has won the 2024 SIGHPC Doctoral Dissertation Award. This award is given each year for the best doctoral dissertation completed in high performance computing (HPC) in the previous year, and includes a $2,000 cash prize. Dr. Bo Fang (University of British Columbia) was selected for Honorable Mention in the 2024 Dissertation Award. Dr. Trilce Estrada is the 2024 ACM SIGHPC Emerging Woman Leader in Technical Computing award winner. Dr. Estrada is an associate professor in the department of Computer Science at the University of New Mexico. She is recognized for her innovative and transformative deployment of machine learning for knowledge discovery in molecular dynamic simulations and in situ analytics.
